(King Nebuchadnezzar) "Are you ready?"

(Scribe) "Yes My Lord, you may proceed."

(King Nebuchadnezzar) "Very well," (Clears throat) "Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, unto all the peoples, nations, and languages. Peace be multiplied unto you.

I thought it good to show you
The wonders from on high
The signs and works of God
Who rules both earth and sky.

His kingdom is everlasting
It does not rot away
His dominion lasts forever
And he always gets his way.

I, Nebuchadnezzar,
was at rest in my abode
I fell asleep while reading
Hammurabi’s Code

And as I was asleep
I saw visions in my head
A dream that horrified me
As I laid upon my bed

I was troubled by my dream
So I sent out a decree,
that all the magicians of Babylon
Should come at once to me

I asked them to interpret
The nightmare I had seen
But none of them could answer
Though their minds were sharp and keen

And so I was enraged
At their incompetence.
Could no one give an answer?
and would the meaning even make sense?

Could anyone interpret
the visions of my head?
The ones that I had seen
as I laid upon my bed.

But then came a magician
A Jew named Belteshazzar
He’d told me of my dreams before
No matter how bizarre

He listened to every word
Nothing did he dismiss
As I told him the dream that haunted me
And the dream I told him was this:

I stood and saw a giant tree
Whose trunk rose wide and tall
It grew so big so fast that soon
This tree could be seen by all

The leaves of this tree were fair
And shaded the earth below
They would rustle every so slightly
As a gentle breeze would blow

And the fruit was quite abundant
On every branch it grew
All life gathered around it
And the place was quite a zoo

The birds made homes in the branches
And the beasts lived under its shade
Everything was perfect
In this place that the tree had made

Then came a Watcher
A holy one from heaven
He ordered the tree to be cut down
But allowed it to grow again

He ordered the roots to remain
Amidst the dew-filled grass
And the stump to be bound up
With bands of iron and brass

“For seven times,” the Watcher announced
“Will his heart be that of a beast
He shall live among the wild
And with the animals shall he feast.”

As I finished the Dream
I asked what it meant
So Belteshazzar decided
He would give me a Hint."

(Scribe) “A hint my lord? But I thought he told you the entire dream?”

(King Nebuchadnezzar) “It’s called Poetic license, now carry on.”

(Scribe) “Yes my lord.”

(King Nebuchadnezzar)(clears throat) “Er- where was I?”

(Scribe) “You were just getting to the interpretation.”

(King Nebuchadnezzar) “Oh yes!” (clears throat)

"This is the interpretation
Sent by The Most High
Who’s kingdom lasts forever
And will never ever die

The Tree that thou sawest
Which grew and was strong
Represents you O’king
Who are once again in the wrong

And whereas the tree was felled
By a watcher sent from heaven
In like manner shall you fall down
For your pride, arrogance, and sin

I prey thee O’king
That thou will listen to reason
and repent from your wrongdoing
Before God convicts you of treason

I thanked him for his work
And paid his warning no mind
Until at the end of twelve months
When my sentence was finally signed

I was walking in my palace
On a beautiful sunny day
Surveying my many riches
that I could not help but say

How wonderful is Babylon
This Kingdom I have made
For by my might and power
It has grown and will not fade

Then Suddenly I heard a voice
Filled with strength and might
It said: “Your kingdom has departed thee.
And now you must take flight.”

So I was banished from humanity
and away from all I’d known
I fled into the wilderness
Where I lived my life alone

My hair grew long and shaggy
My skin was wet with dew
I ate grass like an animal
And became one through and through

Then one day I lifted up
My eyes unto heaven
At once my mind returned to me
as the years had numbered seven

So now I Nebuchadnezzar,
Praise, honor, and extol
The King of heaven whose works are truth
And Who is always in control."

Elric and his kin find this most amusing.

You are quite the poet.
