Maybe, maybe more need to be written. The last ones that I saw were the ones that C. S. Lewis wrote Sleep . They weren't quite as good as Narnia. I also think I saw a couple of kids series at the convention, but they looked kind of boring. I just made a quick check on Google as well, wiki lists 7 authors. One of them is the writer of Left Behind. At this time it seems to be a rather scrawny field.

Yes, There Definitely Need to be more written, I read a very Disturbing Stat the other day: That 75-80% of all Christian novels are...drum roll please...Romance!!! While Supernatural, Sci-Fi, Fantasy and the all the rest of Christian novels make up the remaining 25%! That's why there is no Romance tab on this forum. We believe, that, although romance desperately needs help, The more neglected genres should be focused on, because quite frankly, they deserve to be. I heard a convincing argument saying that Sci-fi should be the best Genre for Christians, supernatural should be our bread and butter. So I say, let this be the end of Romance dominating the Christian bookstores. And Let this Be the Beginning of Christian Sci-Fi!

No offense. but who's we? I am just wondering who you are reffering to. And yes I do believe there are too many romance novels. In fact I could bet you that at lest half of those romance novels a about the pioneers with a girl as the main character. Christian authors all seem to be on the same track No . Any ideas?

Yeah, WAY too many 'Christian' romances out there. That's about all you can find in the Christians book stores and if your not in to that, too bad! One of the problems that I see with romance novels is that they are not very edifying or uplifting at all! If anything, it makes one think about that kind of thing and draws ones thoughts away from the Lord and what one should be forcused on.

I am afraid that I must disagree with you here. Though I can not speak for all romance novels, I believe God can clearly be seen in a good romance story. He even refers to the church as his bride and in a way the romantic relationships here on earth somewhat point towards that great relationship between God and his church. Though I can not defend all romantic novels. Stories of that type can be great for pointing to God.

Very true and well said. But I am sure you will agree that a young person should not spend all their time reading romance novels(which some peopel might be inclined to do). But, yes, some are good.

True, I do not think anyone should spend all there time on any one genre. It is good to have diversity.

Absolutly. Only problem being, (which is the reason this whole conversations started) is that there aren't very many other good Christian genres. silent

Alas for the lack. Hopefully some full time author will take up that challenge. It would be so refreshing to see diversity in Christian literature.

Well, it could be better if each author stuck to one genre, the one that they are good at, but maybe the problem is that we need more christian authors out there.

It is a fine line. On one hand, it's kind of annoying when say, a Good Fantasy author decides to try his hand at a Wild Western. Some authors are the face of their genre. (Tom Clancy comes to mind.)
But on the other hand, when your books start to become REALLY repetitive, (Redwall) it is always helpful to take a break and investigate other Genres. Just my thoughts.

Well, maybe the problem with books like Redwall, is that the author needs to move on to a different story, instead of trying to connect all of them.
